Tim Kelly on the Issues.
EducationNo issue in Michigan is more important to Tim than providing access to a quality education for all students, regardless of their zip code. As a frontline advocate for funding students, not systems for the past 25 years, Tim believes parents and families make the best decisions for their children, not Lansing bureaucrats or local school officials. Tim will fight to keep Critical Race Theory and inappropriate sexual content out of our classrooms, and put concerned parents back in charge of their local schools.

Economic DevelopmentMichigan needs to be the right decision for businesses and individuals alike- meaning it has to be affordable. Taxation, energy, the costs of living in Michigan have to make sense to grow a business and family. Tim will encourage and support efforts to lower the costs of everyday living to make Michigan a destination by choice, not by chance.

Responsible GovernmentTrust in government is at an historic low. The COVID-19 pandemic exposed government overreach which was fueled by Gretchen Whitmer's zeal for control. Lansing's state agencies have become bloated, lazy, and self serving, and have extended extraordinary power over the very citizens that pay their salaries. Lansing needs to be defanged and the burden that they place on everyday Michiganders must be displaced. Government should be responsive, not oppressive.

EnergyFew things are as important to a healthy community as thriving businesses, and those businesses run best on energy that is plentiful, reliable, and cheap. Fossil fuels continue to provide all three of these attributes while newer renewable energy catches up. I favor an "all the above" approach to our energy needs based on market forces, not government forced mandates. While the environment is critically important to the sustainability of our human enterprise, the world economy for the foreseeable future will rely on the base load capacity and reliability of oil and gas.

Public SafetyRising crime and progressive prosecutors are a lethal mix for building and sustaining safe communities. Few professions deserve our support and respect more than our first responders- especially after a full year of riots and "Defund the Police" actions. As your next State Senator, I will defend and fund public safety in order to keep our streets and neighborhoods safe for families and commerce.

Second AmendmentAs a State Representative I authored and supported gun rights bills that protect Americans fundamental right to responsible gun ownership. From personal protection to sport and hunting needs, firearms are as American as apple pie. As your State Senator, I will continue to backstop your Constitutional 2nd Amendment rights.

Water Quality and Great Lakes ProtectionMichigan's Great Lakes holds a significant portion of the world's supply of fresh water. It's vitally important that we keep and preserve their pristine ecosystems for generations to come. As a former legislator, I voted to keep nuclear waste and other dangerous contaminants from being deposited anywhere near the shores of our Great Lakes. Preservation of our lakes, rivers, and streams will guarantee world class fishing and recreation and enshrine Michigan the water and winter wonderland.

AgricultureMichigan's farmers are the best stewards of their own lands. Generation after generation do what they can to preserve the natural resources they rely on to make a living and feed their families as well as ours. Over regulation and high fuel prices make it hard to bring farm commodities to the market place. I'll fight to keep our local farmers in charge of their own livelihoods and Lansing out of their hair.

Election IntegrityOpen and fair elections are a main hallmark of our republic. Simple and common sense measures like photo ID, citizenship requirements, and chain of custody laws must be strictly adhered to. As Governor Abbot of Texas says; "we should be making it easier to vote and harder to cheat". As your next Michigan State Senator, I promise to fight attempts to hand over our state rights to "federalize" state and local elections.

Pro-LifeTim believes human life begins at conception and deserves legal protection at every stage until natural death. He believes Abortion providers, including Planned Parenthood, should not receive taxpayer funds or grants from federal, state, or local governments. He supports the Born Alive Abortion Survivors Protection Act, which requires health care providers to provide life-saving treatment for infants who survive an attempted abortion.
